About the Role:

Join a highly skilled EDT team that work out of hours providing a robust response to people in crisis. EDT provide a service to children, young people, vulnerable adults, and their families ensuring the right support at the right time to safeguard people who present in crisis out of hours.

The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is an out-of-hours service. You will work alongside colleagues on a rotating shift pattern, which includes some weekends and bank holidays. We work closely with partner agencies.

As part of our team, you will:
  • Be a qualified AMHP or willing to train as an AMHP.
  • Provide a high-quality response to emergency referrals out of normal working hours.
  • Work a rotational shift pattern.
  • Provide support and interventions to vulnerable adults, children, and families to address safeguarding concerns.
  • Offer out-of-hours advice and guidance to professionals, and produce accurate, reflective reports.
  • Be the first point of contact for professionals, vulnerable adults, children, families, or the public with urgent concerns.
  • Carry out thorough, high-quality crisis assessments for children and families, promptly identifying risks, needs, and required services.
  • Apply legal and professional knowledge to balance protection, risk, and support for positive outcomes.
About the Candidate:

We seek social workers who can work independently, manage competing demands, and operate under pressure without direct supervision. Confidence in decision-making, risk assessment, and providing guidance and challenge to colleagues is essential.

Hours of Work:
  • 36 hours per week on a shift rotation, with leave included within the rota.
  • The rota spans an 8-week period, involving 13 night shifts and 3 day shifts, including some bank holidays.
  • Night shifts: 5pm to 9am with a break.
  • Weekend shifts: 8:30am-5:30pm or 5pm-9am.

  • Salary: £52,432 - £56,077 pro rata (including 20% enhancement for unsocial hours).
  • Annual leave: 28-33 days plus 8 days included within the rota.
