The role: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at Rowden Technologies supporting one of our most important customers.

This role involves working full-time at our HQ in Bristol with a hybrid team of contractors and military personnel for a government organization. The position requires designing, developing, building, deploying, and supporting mission-critical services across cloud infrastructure, focusing on AWS. You will work closely with our customers and need to be self-directed, although supported by the wider team.

While offering hybrid working options, the role requires a minimum of 2 days per week at our Bristol office. Regular travel to the customer's site in the West Midlands will be expected (likely once a week), with travel costs included in the package.

Candidates must be willing to obtain UKNSV security clearance, with SC clearance being essential and DV clearance desirable. No prior clearance is necessary. More info: UK Security Clearance Levels.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Workload integration, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and patching to ensure service reliability, availability, and performance.
• Collaborating with development teams to incorporate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
• Interfacing with the account manager for progress updates and future customer needs.

• Experience with multiple cloud platforms, especially AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation).
• Experience as the face of an organization to customers, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible, plus programming experience in Python, Golang, or similar.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, container technologies (Docker, Podman), orchestration (Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
• Strong IT security practices, including application hardening and secure software development.
