Financial Controller - Sheffield

Salary/Hours: c £32,000 DOE - Monday to Friday, 5 days per week over 40 hours per week

Location: S35, Ecclesfield, Sheffield - office based

Job Type: Full Time, may consider Part Time (5 days/week required)

Ash Consulting is working with a well-established Compliance and Contractor Management Software company seeking an experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to fulfill the role of Financial Controller. The appointee will be responsible for compliance accounts duties, confidential financial administrative support, and will report directly to the MD and the Board of Directors.

Qualifications: Ideally AAT fully qualified or equivalent; familiarity with Xero accounting and payroll software preferred.

Key Duties:

1. Daily bank reconciliation
2. Reporting on accounts:
   1. Sales - monthly
   2. P&L - monthly
   3. Balance sheet, including reconciliation - monthly
   4. Bi-monthly Board reports
3. Company Secretary duties
4. Company house filing:
   1. HMRC
   2. VAT preparation and submission
   3. Shareholder admin and returns
   4. Annual returns
5. Accounts payable:
   1. Suppliers' invoices and statements
   2. Company credit card reconciliation
   3. Expenses and mileage
   4. Purchase ledger reconciliation
6. Forecasting and budgeting:
   1. Sales
   2. P&L
   3. Cash flow
   4. Prepayments
7. Recording and reporting on the company's financial transactions
8. Payroll processing (summary prepared by MD)
9. Additional bookkeeping tasks as required
10. Adherence to company digital filing, PO, and payroll processes
11. Supporting Operational Accounts team
12. Making creditor/supplier payments using online banking
13. Supporting external audits
14. General support to office colleagues as needed

Key Experience and Skills:

• Experience with Xero is essential
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including reporting and pivot tables
• Minimum 3 years in a similar role
• Minimum 1 year experience with Xero
• Accountancy qualifications preferred
