About the Opportunity

The role will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring delivery meets the company and client requirements by determining safe methods of working, identifying hazards and unsafe conditions, and advising on written method statements, assisting in producing risk assessments; preparation and review of safety documentation.
  2. Carrying out site safety inspections and audits and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the workforce to improve behavioural safety.
  3. Developing forward initiatives to address current environment, Learning From Experience and enable continuous improvement.
  4. Ensuring management and workforce are aware of Site Licensing Conditions, site requirements, H, S&E legislation, environmental consents, impact assessments and codes of practice and any changes which may occur.
  5. Engaging at all levels within the organization - engineers to craft and at senior levels when appropriate.
  6. Providing conventional, radiological and nuclear safety advice.
  7. Handling injury/incident reporting and investigation.

Additional requirements include:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the nuclear and construction industries and working practices.
  • Experience at Sellafield site in a safety role including knowledge of SL Site Management System.
  • Experience working in the key plants within Controlled Areas at Sellafield.
  • Auditing and inspection experience.
  • Radiological dose management.
  • Experience in incident investigation and reporting.
  • Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards).

Any offer of employment will be strictly subject to the relevant security requirements, including obtaining BPSS clearance and either SC or DV clearance. The process may require additional evaluation for non-British nationals or dual nationals.
