Senior Product Engineer

The Role of Senior Product Engineer

In line with our current growth plan, we're seeking a talented Product Engineer to join our team. As part of the Technical Team, you will leverage your experience, knowledge, and skills to develop new products and enhance existing ones. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, contribute to decision-making, and make recommendations based on market demands.

If you have experience in Residential and Commercial circuit protection systems, including Consumer Units, TPN Distribution Boards, and associated switchgear and protection devices such as MCBs, RCCBs, and RCBOs, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We offer a competitive salary starting from £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience, along with benefits such as 23 days holiday (increasing with service), pension contributions, private healthcare with BUPA, life assurance, EAP, a company bonus scheme, and free onsite parking near Luton Airport.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Technical Director, Head of Product/NPD, and Sales Team to design, prototype, build, and develop new products and enhancements.
• Conduct detailed research into market trends and technologies.
• Collaborate with sales to identify opportunities for new product lines.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, including BS EN 61439, and can be installed per UK wiring regulations.
• Report product or supply issues promptly, proposing solutions when possible.
• Support other departments by raising awareness of potential barriers to delivery.
• Oversee detailed product design tasks, including cost analysis, BoMs, schematics, and assembly estimates.
• Create and maintain comprehensive product files.
• Develop a product roadmap aligned with current and future product lines, ensuring compliance.
• Enhance departmental efficiencies through collaboration.
• Provide technical guidance and updates to team members as appropriate.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Degree or HNC/HND in engineering or relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of electrical components in domestic and industrial settings.
• Experience with automation, HMI, IoT applications in electromechanical systems is preferred.
