Job description

Do you have a passion for transforming the lives of people who have experienced severe injury or illness? Here at the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), you will join an innovative, forward-thinking team with the collective objective of providing first-class rehabilitation to our patients.

Position: Deputy Team Leader / Charge Nurse in Rehabilitation

If you wish to be part of our journey in creating a better future for rehabilitation patients, please apply. This role is crucial for providing senior leadership to nursing and support teams at the NRC, taking deputy ward manager / team leader responsibilities to ensure high-quality, efficient, safe, and compassionate care in a rehabilitation setting.

Successful candidates will play a key role in shaping the future of the service and contribute to pioneering rehabilitation practices across the UK. The model aims to deliver regional rehabilitation services, starting with the East Midlands, with plans for expansion.

This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of significant change in UK rehabilitation. You will be supported to grow through various developmental programmes, and the NRC offers unparalleled opportunities to research alongside Professors in Rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess the care needs of patients and develop, evaluate, and amend care programs accordingly.
  2. Provide direct and indirect patient care independently.
  3. Collaborate within the interdisciplinary team to assess, evaluate, and deliver patient care.
  4. Utilize and integrate evidence-based practices.
  5. Make clinical decisions based on patient assessments, including safe nurse-led discharges.

The NRC, opening in spring 2025, aims to set new standards for rehabilitation practice and outcomes in England. It is hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and situated on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre.

The centre will be a purpose-built 70-bed facility, with academic partnerships led by the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University to embed research, innovation, education, and training into clinical practice.

Initially, the role will be based at Linden Lodge to support patient rehabilitation there, with a transition to the NRC planned for summer 2025. The position involves delivering early, goal-directed rehabilitation to patients transitioning from regional Neurosurgery, Spinal, and Major Trauma Centres.

For full details, please refer to the attached job description and person specification. The application deadline is Sunday, 18 May 2025.
