Role Summary

The Downdetector-Connect Product Engineering Director is a senior leadership role responsible for defining strategy, vision, and execution of product development. Leading product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders, the role ensures the delivery of innovative products aligned with strategic goals and customer needs. The Director ensures efficient, scalable product development processes that support broader business objectives.

This role blends strategic vision, leadership, and executional excellence. The candidate will oversee high-impact product development, drive innovation, optimize processes, and manage teams for successful outcomes. Proven experience in product management, leadership, and delivering business results is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Product Strategy: Define long-term development aligned with business goals and market needs.
  • Vision and Innovation: Set innovation goals, foster creative thinking, and pursue disruptive solutions.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Monitor trends, competitors, and customer feedback to identify opportunities.
  • Lead Product Development Teams: Manage and mentor teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Define and Prioritize Product Roadmap: Oversee roadmaps that balance short-term and long-term goals.
  • Ensure Timely Delivery: Drive on-time, quality product releases through effective resource management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align engineering, marketing, sales, and operations teams.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Oversee budgets and resource allocation.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Manage from concept to post-launch optimization.
  • Process Optimization: Implement best practices like agile methodologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use feedback and metrics to enhance workflows.
  • Executive Communication: Report progress and challenges to leadership.
Requirements
  • 8-12+ years in product development, with 5+ in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven team leadership and talent development skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities.
  • Extensive experience in product strategy and execution.
  • Deep understanding of full product lifecycle management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or related field; MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus.
  • Certifications like CSPO or Agile are advantageous but optional.
