Quality Engineer - Audits & Inspections

NG Bailey is proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. This project is part of the first generation of nuclear power stations in Britain, providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK's leading independent engineering and services business, is part of the MEH Alliance, delivering mechanical, electrical, and HVAC installation for the project.

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the QA Area Lead in implementing quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Management System (QMS) Development: Collaborate to develop and implement a comprehensive QMS tailored to the nuclear build project.
  2. Procedure Development and Review: Create and review QA/QC procedures, work instructions, and quality plans ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  3. Quality Audits and Inspections: Conduct audits and inspections, identify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  4. Lifetime Quality Records: Oversee documentation to maintain accurate records for compliance and traceability.
  5. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate quality risks to ensure safety and reliability.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to nuclear regulatory requirements and standards.
  7. Training and Development: Provide QA/QC training to personnel and contractors.
  8. Root Cause Analysis: Investigate quality failures and implement corrective measures.
  9. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor KPIs, prepare reports, and communicate QA status.
  10. Inspection and Test Plans: Develop ITPs to meet construction schedules.
  11. CFME: Champion Foreign Material Exclusion during assembly and testing.
  12. Non-Conformance: Issue NCRs, facilitate closures, and maintain lessons learned logs.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience in a quality role within engineering, with qualifications in Mechanical/Piping preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries and large-scale projects is beneficial.
  • Internal Auditor qualification is advantageous.
