NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

This is an exciting time to join the Admin Team at the National Treatment Centre-Highland on the Inverness Campus, supporting the cataract pathway for patients attending from NHS Highland, NHS Grampian, and NHS Tayside. This is a new, permanent, full-time post where the postholder will be part of a wider team supporting the Ophthalmology Service, with a focus on the delivery of the cataract pathway—tracking patients from referral to discharge. You will be part of the Multi Disciplinary Cataract Team, which includes Consultants, Optometrists, Outpatient and Theatre Nursing staff, and will have links with other referring Boards.

If you are highly motivated and enthusiastic, capable of delivering high-quality administrative services with proven experience, and able to work accurately with attention to detail, both independently and as part of a team, then this role may be suitable for you.

Essential skills include medical terminology knowledge, high typing speed and accuracy, excellent organizational skills, and flexibility in work approach.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa.
NHS Highland cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

From 1 April 2024, NHS Scotland is reducing the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours without a pay change. This adjustment will be pro-rated for part-time staff. The advert and employment contracts will reflect this change. During a transition period, you may be asked to work up to 30 minutes more weekly, paid accordingly, until roster changes accommodate the new hours. For questions, contact the recruiting board.
