Chemical Process Safety Engineer
Wigan
Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm
£70,000 DOE
My client, a leading manufacturer within their field, is seeking an experienced Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their team.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant senior experience
- Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline
- Proficiency in process operations
- Experience leading safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA)
- DSEAR risk assessment experience
- Knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, and latest risk assessment techniques, along with other applicable health and safety legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Self-driven with the ability to multitask
- Positive outlook and clear focus
- Proficiency in process safety and loss prevention areas such as HAZOP, PHA
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of relevant H&S and Environmental legislation
- Understanding of safety fundamentals
Responsibilities:
- Produce technical safety and process engineering deliverables
- Develop safety philosophies, HSE plans, and safety specifications
- Lead and participate in process safety assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies), generate reports, and manage actions
- Input to project design assurance reviews (P&ID, constructability reviews)
- Conduct hazardous area classification according to industry codes
- Develop and implement functional safety management plans
- Review specifications, data sheets, schedules, and calculations for quality and compliance
- Provide technical support to projects and sites
- Stay informed on regulatory, legislative, and industry developments
- Apply knowledge of process safety, environmental engineering, software, and design practices during all project phases
- Maintain awareness of international codes and standards
