Job description

Harrogate College is seeking an Electrical Teacher with specialist subject expertise to join our Electrical department. This role involves teaching full-time students in our fully equipped Electrical workshop. It presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to an expanding curriculum that consistently achieves learner success.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be an experienced Electrician capable of teaching across all attendance modes and levels of Electrical Installations. The teaching will cover:

  • 16-18-year-old Study Programmes
  • 19 plus learners on Study Programmes

You will deliver an excellent learning experience, ensuring learners develop the skills needed for further study, employment, or apprenticeships.

Your Responsibilities

The ideal candidate should have a passion for Electrical work and the ability to motivate future technicians. Experience working with young people is advantageous. You should possess:

  • Current, specialist expertise in a skills shortage area of Electrical
  • Knowledge of sector developments and recent CPD
  • Preparation and delivery of a range of topics using industry knowledge
  • Contribution to aspirational teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Accurate record-keeping of learners’ progress
Candidate Requirements
  • Willingness to work towards or hold a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE)
  • Relevant vocational/technical qualification or degree
  • Recent relevant experience and expertise in the subject sector
  • Up-to-date subject knowledge
  • Understanding of the Further Education or school sector
