Sefton Sixth Form College is a vibrant educational institution dedicated to providing high-quality teaching and fostering student success. We are currently seeking a passionate and committed Lecturer of Applied Diploma in Criminology & A Level Sociology to join our dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise the potential of every student to progress to their chosen destination.

Sefton Sixth Form College is based in Litherland, Sefton. It is a part of Hugh Baird College and was formerly known as the Hugh Baird College South Sefton Campus. The Sixth Form was founded in 2009 and is a vibrant, state-of-the-art campus offering an extensive choice of A-level subjects, as well as a small number of BTEC and GCSE courses. The campus is located approximately 7 miles away from Liverpool City Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Applied Diploma in Criminology & A-level Sociology at our Sefton Sixth Form College campus.
  • Implement appropriate feedback and assessment systems to accurately check learning, adapting teaching as required to ensure learner progress.
  • Deliver lessons which align with our TLA Principles.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation.
  • Maintain a professional learning environment in the classroom, consistently implementing our ABC expectations and supportive processes as required.
  • Maintain and update teaching expertise and skills to continually develop your teaching practice and deliver the best outcomes for learners.
  • Contribute to the delivery of our enhancement program.
Criteria
  • Possess a degree in Criminology, Sociology or a related subject.
  • Possess a PGCE/Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Possess a qualification in Math’s and English levels 4 – 9 (GCSE Grades A – C) or equivalent.
  • Track record of successful teaching experience within a Sixth Form setting, preferably teaching either Criminology or Sociology.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant course subject matter and examination and assessment requirements.
  • Understanding of value added and the use of progress performance measures.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning.
