Senior Design Engineer

Location: Fleet (Hampshire)

The Ideal Candidate:

Experience: Experience working on Section 278 and Section 38 highway design projects.

Skills:

• Pro-active management skills with confidence to lead teams amidst a growing and varied workload.
• Strong technical skills in various highway design environments.
• Proven project management experience ensuring delivery within programme and budget.
• Experience in developing, mentoring, and supervising Highway Design staff.
• Solid knowledge of highways technical documents within the DMRB.
• Experience managing contract document development in line with Highway contracts.
• Experience in highway drainage design and use of Causeway Flow PDS software.
• Working knowledge of Civils 3D CAD software.

Qualifications:

Membership of a relevant Chartered Institute is advantageous. A valid UK driving license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely delivery of designs within budget.
• Manage resource allocation effectively to prioritize tasks.
• Collaborate with the Senior Management Team on projects across offices and disciplines.
• Incorporate requirements from relevant Authorities and Statutory bodies into designs.
• Review and approve design information and reports, providing constructive feedback.
• Prepare designs in accordance with MCHW, DMRB, and local guidance.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations, with proactive risk management.

Travel Requirements:

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to monitor progress and meet clients. Locations include Gateshead, Fleet, or Birmingham offices.
