Job Description:

Northern-based local authority, with a strong sense of social purpose, playing a crucial role in public services across the community. The office is well-located and easily accessible from Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester train stations. This council has a robust and well-structured in-house legal team which is growing and looking to appoint specialist lawyers to provide legal support within social services.

You will support a busy in-house legal department as a qualified local government lawyer. You will work on a caseload of adult and child safeguarding matters and provide advice internally to council committees and appeals panels. You will be required to attend court hearings and must be available to family courts across the local area.

Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate
  • Experience in adult safeguarding, childcare protection law, and Court of Protection matters
  • Good academic record
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of public law and safeguarding procedures
