Job Opportunity: In-House Legal Support for Social Services

Northern-based local authority with a strong social purpose plays a crucial role in public services across the community. The well-located office is easily accessible from Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester train stations. The council's robust and well-structured in-house legal team is expanding and seeking specialist lawyers to support social services.

Role Overview:

  1. Support a busy legal department as a qualified local government lawyer.
  2. Manage a caseload involving adult and child safeguarding matters.
  3. Provide advice to council committees and appeals panels.
  4. Attend court hearings, including family courts across the area.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate.
  2. Experience in adult safeguarding, childcare protection law, and Court of Protection matters.
  3. Strong academic background and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Good understanding of public law and safeguarding procedures.
