Safety, Health and Environmental Manager

Severn Beach, Bristol, UK

GBP58,000 DOE per annum, plus GBP2,000 on–call allowance, private healthcare, share incentive plan, 25 days annual leave, early finish on Fridays, defined contribution pension, flexible benefits package.

Monday to Friday, standard office hours with early finish on Fridays

Our client, a global leader in advanced technology solutions, is seeking a dedicated Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager to join their team at a state–of–the–art facility in Severn Beach, Bristol.

This pivotal role focuses on promoting a culture of safety and well–being, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. You ll work closely with teams to integrate practical, measurable safety practices and drive continuous improvement in a world–class manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental legislation and group–wide SHE strategies
  • Manage and embed ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards into daily operations
  • Contribute to strategic planning to enhance SHE policies, procedures, and systems
  • Auditing and Reporting
  • Conduct internal audits, produce reports, and develop action plans based on findings
  • Accurately report, investigate, and implement learning from accidents, incidents, and near misses
  • Produce monthly reports with data trends and recommend actionable improvements
  • Train teams to conduct risk assessments and deliver SHE compliance training
  • Coach and develop the SHE Coordinator, supporting employee onboarding and inductions
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, staff, and regulators, to promote safety culture
  • Lead new SHE programs and campaigns to improve health, safety, and well–being
  • Establish occupational standards, monitor compliance, and develop supplier relationships for training needs
  • Implement visual management and improvement governance to foster cross–functional engagement

The Person/Qualifications

  • Strong experience in auditing and improving health, safety, and environmental performance in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficiency in implementing and monitoring UK SHE legislation and best practices
  • Ability to engage, train, and develop stakeholders, including employees and external partners
  • Confident leadership with a hands–on, visible approach to promoting safety
  • NEBOSH Diploma Certificate or equivalent (or working towards) and IOSH membership
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems
  • Degree in environmental health, occupational safety, or related field (desirable)
