About the role

As a Technology Transfer (Innovation) Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The commercialization of university intellectual property, generating income from licensing, equity stakes in spin-out companies, and associated research contracts.
  • Identifying research with commercial potential, understanding the impact agenda, and creating opportunities to maximize impact from your portfolio.
  • Collaborating with academic and professional colleagues across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the wider university to support research impact through commercialization, industry engagement, knowledge exchange, and influencing policy.
  • Staying informed about external and internal funding opportunities related to innovation and impact, and promoting these opportunities within our academic community.
About you

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A degree in a physical science or engineering discipline, or substantial vocational and relevant management experience, supported by evidence of significant appropriate knowledge.
  • Knowledge of patenting, licensing deal structures, and the spin-out process, ideally within the UK Higher Education sector.
  • A collaborative approach, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment.
