Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead our scientific efforts and drive innovation. The CSO will play a crucial role in aligning our research and development initiatives with the company's strategic goals, ensuring the development of groundbreaking products and technologies. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for science and a proven track record in product development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership in Science: Define and implement the organisation’s scientific vision and strategy.
  2. Research Oversight: Oversee all scientific research activities within the organisation.
  3. Innovation and Development: Drive innovation by identifying new scientific opportunities and trends.
  4. Collaboration and Partnerships: Develop and manage partnerships with academic institutions, research organisations, and industry groups.
  5. Funding and Resource Allocation: Secure funding for research initiatives through internal budget allocations and external grants.
  6. Communication of Scientific Findings: Communicate scientific findings to various stakeholders.
  7. Strategic Decision-Making: Contribute to Senior Executive Team decision-making with insights and data.
  8. Risk Management: Assess potential scientific and technological risks related to research and development activities.
  9. Clinical Trials: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of clinical and toxicity trials.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Appropriate tertiary training, minimum of Masters level, but preferably PhD in a related field (Chemistry, Protein Science, or Biotechnology discipline).
  • Product development experience in Personal Care and/or Nutraceutical Products and/or Medical Devices.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 5 years CSO experience.
  • Proactive approach to ensure high-quality and consistent product manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills relevant to both internal and external relations and communications.
  • Impressive peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Planning, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Customer-focused.
