The role

This is a two-year placement role for a Legal Trainee who has completed the Legal Practice Course and is seeking a legal traineeship to qualify as a solicitor. The successful candidate will gain experience in various legal areas including commercial, property, litigation, prosecution, and regulatory work, developing skills necessary for qualification as a solicitor.

Under the supervision of the Training Principal, you will support the Legal Team's work across all areas, including:

  • Assisting with case schedules and managing files
  • Supporting colleagues with drafting and documentation
  • Developing advocacy and oral presentation skills
  • Legal research related to NRW's work areas
  • Observing and practicing negotiation and interviewing techniques
  • Building professional relationships and understanding ethics and judgment
  • Managing time and records efficiently

NRW supports flexible working arrangements. You will be based at the nearest NRW office to your home, with a hybrid working pattern to be agreed upon. In-person meetings and training will be scheduled in advance.

Your Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Demonstrate the following using the STAR method:

  • Completed a relevant degree and the Legal Practice Course, ready to start a training contract by October 2025
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Proficient ICT skills
  • Full UK driving license (desirable)
Welsh Language Level Requirements
  • Essential: Level A1 — able to pronounce Welsh and use basic phrases
