Job description

Payroll Manager – 6-Month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Flexible Hybrid (Ashton-under-Lyne)
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (6 months)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (DEO)
Start Date: ASAP

About The Revel Collective plc:
Formerly Revolution Bars Group, The Revel Collective plc is a dynamic hospitality group operating approximately 60 premium bars and pubs across the UK, operating as brands Revolution, Revolución de Cuba, Peach Pubs, and Founders & Co. Following a strategic restructuring and rebranding in October 2024, the company is streamlining our operations and focusing on smarter ways of working.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the end-to-end payroll process during a period as of transition. This 6-month fixed-term role is crucial in ensuring BAU payroll operations while simultaneously facilitating a smooth migration to our new outsourced payroll solution. Reporting to the People Director and supported by one Payroll Administrator, you’ll ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery while helping shape our future processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process 2-weekly and 4-weekly UK payroll cycles for approximately 2,300 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related queries, supporting the payroll administrator.
  • Maintain and update payroll data, including new starters, terminations, bonuses, deductions, and statutory payments.
  • Collaborate with People and Finance teams to ensure accurate pay, reporting, costing, and reconciliation.
  • Lead the transition to an outsourced payroll provider, including data migration, system testing, and process documentation.
  • Support payroll audits and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to confidentiality standards at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a standalone or lead payroll role, preferably within a fast-paced or scale-up environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory reporting.
  • Experience with payroll systems and transitioning to outsourced payroll solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams and external providers.

Why Join Us?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a transformative phase in The Revel Collective's journey. You'll play a key role in modernising our payroll operations, ensuring our employees continue to receive exceptional support during this transition. You'll benefit from a flexible hybrid working model, enjoy generous staff discounts across our portfolio of bars and pubs, and be part of a supportive, inclusive team culture that values both autonomy and collaboration.
