Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our new and dynamic NHS Prison Nursing team.

We are in the process of rebuilding a robust team, offering opportunities to develop a strong nursing service within the ever-changing prison environment.

This role involves delivering routine clinics within the Health Centre and Residential Prison Halls, collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary health team and the Scottish Prison Service.

You should have experience working in a hospital or primary care environment, with effective written and verbal communication skills. The role requires working autonomously and as part of an MDT team. Although challenging, prison nursing is extremely rewarding, with numerous development opportunities.

The prison environment is busy and demanding both emotionally and physically. The successful candidate must be able to cope with these demands.

This is a shift-based role: 10.5-hour day shifts from 06:30 to 18:00 and 09:45 to 21:30, Monday to Sunday, with no night shifts.
