Our Directors play a pivotal role in directing programmes across accounts. This position is perfect for a visionary leader with a deep understanding of therapy and scientific fields who can direct and develop high-performing teams to create impactful medical content and expand business opportunities. Directors thrive in shaping the future of accounts and fostering a dynamic, supportive environment for ground breaking project development. Directors have the opportunity to specialise in content development, team leadership, team development, and/or strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities

· Therapy area and scientific expertise: Direct teams across accounts, contribute through others, and co-create excellent medical content across multiple therapy areas, ensuring that outputs meet/exceed client expectations

· Strategic thinking:

o Define strategy for accounts and on new business proposals in collaboration with senior team members

o Present briefs to internal and external audiences

· AI: Direct the implementation of AI into new projects and initiatives across ≥1 account

· Client relationships: Act as trusted advisor for clients, engaging regularly in various ways

· Managing and advising:

o Direct, build, develop and manage teams to work competently, confidently and efficiently to deliver high-quality work in high-pressure situations

o Ensure a robust environment for project development

o Identify opportunities for other teams to support business

The Director, Medical Publications additionally has the following responsibilities

· Strategic publication planning:

o Develop and execute comprehensive strategic publication plans, ensuring alignment with client medical objectives

o Analyze complex clinical and scientific data to generate clear, engaging, and scientifically accurate narratives for publication and presentation

o Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on publication projects, building trust and maintaining open communication while providing strategic and tactical guidance

o Contribute to the growth of our publications business by supporting the development of new business proposals and participating in client pitches

· Content excellence:

o Lead the writing and editing of high-quality manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, craft compelling abstracts and presentations for major medical congresses, highlighting key data and strategic messaging

o Provide leadership and mentorship to medical writers, fostering a culture of excellence and supporting professional growth within the team

· Quality standards:

o Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific accuracy, consistency, and compliance with style guidelines and publications ethical standards

o Champion quality standards internally by contributing to thought leadership and advocacy

o Advocate for best practices in project management and delivery across the medical writing team

o Proactively identify needs for skills training across the medical writing team

Qualifications and Skills

· You should bring previous experience within medical education including roles that involved management of multiple teams of medical writers and/or strategists across accounts, and direct interaction with clients

· A profound understanding of healthcare, science, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry is essential

· Ideally, possess a current or previous CMPP qualification

· A high level of academic achievement is expected

· You’ll need to be personable, articulate, and capable of nurturing relationships, with a knack for delivering persuasive presentations
