Graduate / Junior Application Support Developer

Location: Hybrid based at our Bristol location in UK, 2-3 days per week

Experience: 0 to 2 years' post-grad experience (from fresh graduate to approximately 2 years)

Note: We cannot accept applicants on a PSW or Graduate visa

We are looking to hire an Application Support Developer to join our innovative team. Specializing in IoT and big data analytics, we provide remote monitoring systems for the maritime and industrial sectors, with customers worldwide. This pivotal role involves providing technical assistance and support for our in-house developed software applications, troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and implementing enhancements. You will serve as a bridge between developers and our customers.

Our IoT product hardware, which sits on a boat and gathers data, interfaces using C, C++, and Linux-based systems like Raspberry Pi.

We have many boats online and need support to bring new ones online and resolve software bugs.

The data is transmitted to the cloud via Azure, with data written in Python and C++, which requires support.

In 2 years, you will transition into the software team, and your role will include training and supporting new graduates replacing you.

Experience with electronics and electrical systems on boats is a bonus but not essential.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

1. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving technical issues with software applications, including bugs, performance problems, and integration issues.
2. Technical Support: Providing technical assistance to internal and external users via our support ticketing system.
3. Application Maintenance: Ensuring applications run smoothly, including updates, patches, and configurations.
4. Enhancements and Improvements: Identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements based on user feedback and performance data.
5. Documentation: Maintaining and updating technical documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
6. Collaboration: Working closely with developers to report issues, provide feedback, and ensure applications meet user needs.
7. Customer Onboarding: Updating customer configurations, rolling out updates, and creating, updating, and running Python scripts.

The Person:

You will be customer-focused, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external customers. You should have a passion for programming, be self-motivated, eager to learn, and open to innovative solutions. This role offers a pathway toward full software development.

Essential Experience / Qualifications / Educational Attainments:

• Proficiency in Python
• C/C++ experience is a bonus
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket)
• Degree in a technical field such as computer science or engineering
