Power Electronics Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join Rolls-Royce.

In this role, the selected candidate will work within a power electronics team to deliver innovative power electronic solutions supporting Rolls-Royce's electrification and low carbon strategies.

The role involves delivering complex power electronic conversion systems for various applications, ranging from 10's of kW to 1MW. The candidate will take full ownership of solutions from concept through design, testing, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Serve as a technical point of contact for power electronic systems, including AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC conversions, and solid-state controllers.
2. Develop optimized power electronic solutions considering system requirements, power quality, EMC, and protection.
3. Own solutions from concept to installation, covering electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects.
4. Present designs at review gates and interface with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Innovate to improve existing methods, capture intellectual property, and support research activities.
6. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams to optimize system solutions.
7. Stay updated on latest power electronics technologies and standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in power electronic system development, design, and verification.
• Knowledge of domain interfaces, component behavior, verification vehicles, and system architecture, including electrical machines and energy storage systems.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools for power electronics.
• PCB design experience using Altium and/or Cadence is advantageous.
• Degree or higher in engineering or related field.
• Strong time management, research skills, and the ability to train others.
