Location: Western House, Bradford, hybrid working (1-2 office days a week)

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the Commercial Team responsible for all of our operational network contracts at Yorkshire Water, and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Commercial – Operations Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing a team of Contract Technicians to support the Service Managers with the monthly AFP payment cycles across our NEC4 agreements, covering the Wastewater Services Agreement, the Water Services Partnership and Smart Metering.

Where you fit in:

As our Commercial Manager you will;

  • Lead a team of Commercial Technicians and support their commercial development
  • Review, analyse and approve contractor cost submissions and financial models including leading commercial negotiations including cost claims/comp events and working closely with vendor managers
  • Lead on contract optimisation with the relevant business units
  • Negotiating robust contract amendments and extensions in full compliance to PR23 procurement regulations
  • Lead on the delivery of training to the rest of the team and business on how to support contract management activity

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Experience of the commercial management of high value, complex and business critical service-based contracts
  • Broad, multi-disciplinary business knowledge, particularly of commercial / contract negotiations, and linked to this an understanding of the workings of services-based contracts and the trade-off between commercial and operational priorities
  • Relevant Contract Management qualification such as NEC PMA
  • Leadership and People Management experience
  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within broader utilities

You will also benefit from having:

  • Sourcing experience – development and ongoing management of category strategies, simple & complex sourcing strategies, procurement processes and compliance with legislative and governance requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant Procure to Pay systems (SAP/ARIBA)
