Job description

Hybrid Working Pattern - 2 days per week from Tower Bridge office

Zoopla is one of the UK's most instantly recognisable property brands. In fact, we're known and loved by over 91% of the nation (and we're working hard on the other 9%). Our mission is to help the nation make better home decisions - by connecting everyone to their home and giving them personalised insights to help with moving, managing or financing. Over 50 million people visit Zoopla every month to access exclusive data and information on every UK property, search over 500,000 homes for sale and rent, find the best agents and secure the latest mortgage deals.

We're a growing, dynamic team that embraces innovation and isn't afraid to push the boundaries. We're only just starting our journey to redefine the digital property landscape, with much more to explore and achieve. Join us, and transform the way the nation makes home decisions.

Full-Stack Engineer

As a Full-Stack Engineer at Zoopla, you will work on the consumer portal experience and create a high-performance website and other services. If you enjoy being in a commercially driven organisation, core web vitals, developer experience, APIs, pipelines, personalisation at the edge, or creating delightful UIs with the latest CSS, we have something for you.

While we have a diverse set of technologies and services running here at Zoopla, we don't expect you to know all of them and would love to hear from you if you have experience in just a few of them.

On the frontend you'll work with React, Nx, Vercel, and TypeScript. On the backend, it's Node.js, Next.js, and GraphQL, all written in TypeScript, but also Golang and Python. App experience and candidates who are comfortable working with React Native is particularly desirable. Our data stores include both SQL and NoSQL, and you'll be guided by our data and Core Infra/Platform teams as you work with AWS, GitHub/GitLab, CI, and increasingly with serverless technologies.

A willingness to flex your skills across the various layers of the stack is expected for the role. If you're interested in growing your full-stack development skill set, we're happy to support you.

Requirements

What we're looking for in Zoopla Engineers:

  • You're skilled in React and TypeScript (nice to have: Python, Golang, React Native)
  • You're working on your engineering craft, and you practice writing maintainable code, reviewing code, pair programming at times, and writing tests.
  • You're commercially driven, resilient, and able to respond to changes without missing a beat.
  • You're passionate about building products to delight users, while also paying attention to building products that are stable, scalable, secure, observable, and performant.
  • You'll have worked with some type of cloud tech, though we'll make sure you're supported by our SRE folks when you need to flex across the whole stack. Experience in AWS would be a plus, but we're open to all that are happy to work in a place where engineers have a DevOps mentality.
  • You enjoy collaborating closely with colleagues from across all areas of the organisation, and seek to understand how your work aligns with business goals.
  • You're accountable for performance, playing your part in achieving team goals and ensuring your contribution positively impacts overall success.

You'll work in a fast-paced, agile engineering team, alongside data analytics, product, and design. With this experience and support, you'll be empowered to work autonomously to define and deliver on ambitious goals.

We take diversity and inclusion seriously, and to succeed here, you should too! All qualified applicants will be considered, without regard to race, colour, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, disability, health, qualifications, or time unemployed.

A quick note before you apply: We review every application carefully and your answers to the application questions really help us understand your experience and fit for the role. Please take a moment to answer them thoughtfully. Applications without responses may not be considered.

Benefits
  • Everyday Flex - greater flexibility over where and when you work
  • 25 days annual leave + extra days for years of service
  • Day off for volunteering & Digital detox day
  • Festive Closure - business closed for period between Christmas and New Year
  • Cycle to work and electric car schemes
  • Free Calm App membership
  • Enhanced Parental leave
  • Fertility Treatment Financial Support
  • Group Income Protection and private medical insurance
  • Gym on-site in London - or membership in regional offices
  • 7.5% pension contribution by the company
  • Discretionary annual bonus up to 10% of base salary
