About the Team:

The Waste and Cleansing Contract Team manages the Council’s Recycling, Waste Collection, and Street Cleaning contract. This high-value, complex contract impacts all borough residents and visitors. Lambeth Council has declared a climate emergency and aims to be net carbon neutral by 2030, with waste management reduction a key part of this goal.

About the Role:

This role is vital in ensuring the efficient delivery of recycling, waste collection, and street cleaning services. It offers an opportunity to develop contract management skills, lead a dedicated team, and contribute to sustainable waste management practices.

The post holder will oversee the operational management of the Waste and Cleansing Contract Management Team and manage contractual relationships with internal and external contractors related to waste and cleansing services.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing the workforce, contractors, subcontractors, and resources to deliver high-quality services.

To be considered, your CV and supporting statement should clearly demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of national issues in municipal waste management
  • Experience managing high-performing waste and cleansing contracts with sound contract management knowledge
  • Educational qualification to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience with ongoing professional development
  • A high level of accountability for team and individual performance
  • Ambition for continuous improvement through innovation and challenging the status quo
