Laleham Gap is a Communication and Interaction Special School. We have pupils aged from 4 to 18 years of age. Most of our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism. All pupils have an EHCP. Most pupils will achieve some GCSEs or equivalent at age 16. Purpose of the Job:

To provide high quality class teaching in the primary department. To take responsibility for the education and welfare of children in accordance with the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions document, having due regard to the requirements of the National Curriculum, school policies, and the Teachers Standards.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• To take responsibility for planning and implementing appropriate work programmes for children ensuring pupils make good progress.
• To provide extra-curricular activities in partnership with other teachers within the school and external providers.
• To teach within the framework of the Primary Curriculum as required.
• To lead on the development of a foundation subject area across the Primary Curriculum.
• To plan work in accordance with national and school curriculum policies and in cooperation with whole staff to ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant, and stimulating curriculum.
• To have the highest expectations of each pupil and ensure a close match between the learning experiences offered, and the individual needs of the children.
• To make appropriate educational provision for all children.
• To provide all children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners.
• To create a secure, safe, happy, and stimulating learning environment, maintaining the highest standards of organization and classroom management.
• To develop each child’s self-esteem and establish relationships based on mutual respect.
