Job Description: Teacher of Science

School: Laleham Gap
Pay Scale: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance
Responsible to: Headteacher

Purpose of the Job

To demonstrate knowledge of how pupils learn, promote good or better teaching, and ensure the education and welfare of children in line with current policies and standards.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Plan and implement tailored work programmes, including extracurricular activities and collaborations with external providers.
  • Co-produce outcomes for pupils regarding EHCPs, collaborating with therapy teams, families, and external agencies.
  • Hold high expectations and tailor learning experiences to individual needs.
  • Provide appropriate educational provisions for all children.
  • Conduct reviews of EHCPs and progression plans.
  • Encourage independent learning and self-esteem development.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and well-organized learning environment.
  • Develop respectful relationships and foster responsibility for learning.
  • Manage resources effectively and promote responsibility among pupils.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on planning and schemes of work.
  • Assess progress, maintain records, and communicate with parents and external agencies.
  • Promote school aims, equal opportunities, and inclusive practices.
  • Engage in professional development and training.
  • Perform class teaching duties, support during lunchtimes, lead clubs, and support pupils and families.
  • Undertake other duties as needed by the school leadership.
