Job description

NHS England Choices College is a supported internship programme designed to assist young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, or autism in becoming employment ready.

You will collaborate closely with the Education Quality Assurance Manager to deliver Functional Skills educational outcomes and maintain an employment transition rate for students above 75%. Your role is vital in ensuring the programme meets the educational needs of students and complies with regulatory standards.

The main duties of the Functional Skills Tutor include delivering bespoke Maths and English training to interns within a classroom setting and maintaining detailed weekly individual records for each student to meet inspection requirements.

Qualifications required:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Recognised post 16/adult teaching qualification minimum Level 3 (e.g., AET, PTTLS, PGCE)

Essential skills and experience:

  • Confident communication skills with students who have a range of learning disabilities
  • Recent extensive experience working with students with additional educational needs
  • Experience supporting students with SEN on a 1:1 basis in classroom settings
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Training in Systematic Instruction methodologies (beneficial)

A passion for supporting students with SEN to reach their full potential is essential.
