Description Overview
This position is responsible for leading the CSCI R&D team, partnering with the global R&D team, to develop new innovative consumer & medical device products that will provide Perrigo Oral Care with a competitive advantage.
The position will sit on the global R&D leadership team (RDLT), will be the most senior R&D leader in Europe, and will manage the CSCI product development team.
Scope of the Role
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ideate innovative new products and claims to grow Perrigo Oral Care offerings.
- Define product development strategy for new innovations.
- Identify and collaborate with external partners and global R&D teams for developing and commercializing new device and formulation products.
- Manage external open innovation partners and development programs.
- Execute claims substantiation strategy for new products.
- Support customer technical requests, including product education, specifications, complaint handling, quality investigations, and audits.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage NPD and in-market support.
- Support global R&D by communicating customer needs, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
- Manage and provide technical leadership for new product development teams, including project management, budgeting, and timelines.
- Supervise the CSCI product development team, setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
- Identify suppliers with key technologies, interface with them, and lead process development, prototyping, and transfer efforts.
- Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to solve problems, improve processes, and reduce costs.
- Assess new product opportunities and technologies, evaluate IP and regulatory issues, and develop suppliers for product commercialization.
- Make scientifically-based decisions to support existing or new products, processes, or improvements.
Experience Required
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in relevant fields.
- 10-14 (B.S.), 8-11 (M.S.), 5-8 (Ph.D.) years of experience in formulation and/or engineering of consumer, medical device, or pharmaceutical products.
- At least 5 years managing development projects.
- At least 4 years managing direct reports.
- Knowledge of patents, retailer requirements, quality procedures, and European regulations.
- Ability to manage outside contractors and suppliers.
- Strong communication skills across all company levels.
