Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and skilled Data Processing Software Engineer to join our world-class Vehicle Engineering team.

In this factory-based role, the successful candidate will contribute towards the development of bespoke software applications used during race events to analyze car telemetry data in real time, providing high-quality data vital for vehicle performance analysis. Projects may include MATLAB and C# applications, .NET libraries, ECU code, hardware/database interfacing, and automated sensor data sanitization algorithms.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, or C#, with a strong background in programming and software engineering demonstrated through relevant experience, projects, or placements.

Responsibilities
  • Run and monitor data processing software using live telemetry.
  • Support the race team from Mission Control in Grove, reacting quickly to sensor or data issues during track sessions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement or automation.
  • Develop software engineering skills with team support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather data requirements and feedback for continuous development.
Candidate Profile

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Holds a degree in a STEM field involving software development, such as Computer Science, Maths, Physics, or Engineering.
  • Can debug software under pressure.
  • Is comfortable using Git for source control and writing clear documentation.
  • Is a team player with an open-minded, responsible, and constructive attitude.
  • Is well-organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Additional Skills and Experience (Optional)
  • Advanced programming techniques like parallelization, object-oriented programming, profiling, or GUI design.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or streaming services.
  • Knowledge of McLaren Applied Technologies products such as ATLAS, vTAG, or ATLAS Data Server.
  • Skills in signal processing, frequency analysis, outlier detection, or predictive modeling.
  • Experience with electronic sensors, control systems, or ECUs/microcontrollers.
