Overview:

Sentara is hiring a Cardiovascular Anesthesia Technologist at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory and Point of Care patient sample testing, document and report test results.
• Maintain quality controls of lab equipment, instruments, and tools.
• Conduct clinical pathological tests such as blood gas analysis, electrolytes, blood clotting times, lactates, PT/INR.
• Perform Thromboelastographic (TEG), Platelet Map Testing, and instrument validation.
• Establish and monitor non-invasive monitoring equipment, including ECG, oxygen saturation (SPO2), and invasive hemodynamic pressures during cardiac and electrophysiology procedures.
• Assist anesthesiologists with airway management, arterial, and central catheter placements.
• Support intra-aortic balloon pump therapy and troubleshoot across hospital units.
• Collect and process intraoperative autologous blood.
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and quality controls on lab equipment.
• Provide training to employees and students in Cardiovascular Technology.
• Utilize the Gravitational platelet system.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Science or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program.

Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Experience: No prior experience required.
