Risktec Solutions is seeking experienced (3+ years) Technical Safety Engineers for qualitative and quantitative risk and safety studies in the Oil and Gas, Chemical, Distillery, and Alternative Energy sectors. The role is based in one of our UK offices (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Warrington, London) with potential travel within the UK and abroad.

Role Description

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, expanding team, working collaboratively on multiple projects in a supportive environment. Depending on experience, the role may involve leading technical safety projects both nationally and internationally, covering a broad range of facilities, processes, and operations.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• A relevant science or engineering degree.
• Strong analytical, numerical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience or specialization in areas such as Safety Cases, HSE Management Systems, ALARP, SIMOPS, hazard identification and assessment techniques (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie).
• Functional safety including HAZOP, LOPA, FSA, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis.
• Fire, explosion, and toxic gas consequence modeling using software like PHAST or FRED.
• QRA and other safety studies (e.g., BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, Facility Siting Studies) using software such as SAFETI or SHEPHERD.
• Experience with large-scale CFD projects using HPC and cloud computing.
• Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies.
• Knowledge of DSEAR, ATEX, and Hazardous Area Classification.
• Understanding of Human Factors and safety culture.
• Project planning, management, proposal writing, and bid coordination skills.
