Job Description:

The Role

We’re looking for Software Engineers to join our Joule Direct team, to help us build and improve our high-throughput, low-latency energy trading platform. You’ll work with talented technologists to solve complex problems.

Daily tasks may include:

1. Enhancing connection handling code for exchanges (e.g., CME, ICE, EEX)
2. Developing new connectors for unsupported exchanges
3. Improving distributed tracing in critical code paths
4. Implementing new automated trading features
5. Benchmarking to reduce latency
6. Collaborating on design and RFCs with colleagues

Technology Stack

• C# with .NET 8
• SQL Server, Kafka, RabbitMQ
• Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, migrating from TeamCity and Octopus Deploy
• Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus for observability

You

As a software engineer, you will:

1. Work within a cross-functional team with Product Managers, Testers, and DevOps engineers
2. Write well-tested, maintainable code
3. Participate in all development stages: planning, implementation, and delivery
4. Pair with colleagues to share knowledge
5. Engage in technical discussions

Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in C# or similar programming languages
• Ability to write efficient, concurrent code
• Understanding of distributed systems
• Experience with Git, TeamCity, and Octopus (valued but not required)
• Knowledge of financial markets (valued but not required)

If you are familiar with similar technologies, training is available.
