Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Telent is a leading technology company specializing in mission-critical communications and digital infrastructure support. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and other key motorways.

This role involves working with a supportive team to maintain and troubleshoot telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cables, in various field environments, ensuring continuous connectivity and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Attend to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fiber optic cables to ensure network integrity.
• Complete commissioning of equipment accurately and on schedule.
• Respond to equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, testing, and commissioning of fiber and copper equipment.
• Accurately complete all required documentation in a timely manner.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fiber or copper environments.
• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fiber splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
