Join Our Team as an Operational Security Analyst!

Are you passionate about cybersecurity? We're seeking a motivated, dependable, and collaborative Operational Security Analyst to become a valued member of our team.

With your skills and experiences, you can help shape a secure environment for Network Rail by supporting the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of operational security systems and processes to support the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Network Rail's information assets. This includes providing operational systems to manage prevention, detection, remediation, and recovery from security threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.

Please be aware this role holds a mandatory requirement for the incumbent to hold valid security vetting clearance. Any offer will be conditional on the successful candidate obtaining clearance prior to a start date being agreed.

About the role (External)

  1. Supporting the Head of Security Operations Adviser in maintaining relationships with Network Rail's suppliers and service providers specific to the provision of operational security systems and processes.
  2. Assisting the performance of periodic evaluation of Network Rail's operational information assets to confirm that levels of protection afforded are adequate taking into account changes in security threats and vulnerabilities.
  3. Assisting the coordination of processes and technologies to maintain sufficient resilience of Network Rail's critical information systems, including safety critical information systems, to provide continuity of information services to business users and allow these critical systems to be recovered in the event of unpredicted loss of service.
  4. Proactively managing and mitigating threats to information security and vulnerabilities of information systems to prevent loss of confidentiality, integrity, or availability of information assets.
  5. Assisting the delivery of information security communications, reporting, and management information to allow Network Rail managers and users to be aware of, and confident in, the levels of information security provided.
  6. Respond to and investigate actual or suspected security incidents, remediating to prevent further spread, impact, or reoccurrence.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven ability to maintain awareness of current security prevention, detection, and response technologies
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a standards and service level driven environment
  • Proven experience of deploying technical security infrastructures
  • Experience in coordinating, planning, and testing service continuity and IT disaster recovery measures

What could make you stand out?

  • Understanding of key security risk assessment, management, and mitigation systems, methods, and principles
  • Awareness and understanding of British and international standards for security management and control
  • Experience of working in the rail industry
