NHS Borders Psychology Services invites applications for a 0.55WTE (20.35 hours) Senior Clinical Psychologist position to join the Primary Care Psychology Team – Renew.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychologist with a background in working with individuals who have mental health issues co-morbid with physical health problems. The successful candidate will manage a small caseload, lead in designing, governing, and implementing psychological interventions for this patient group within our primary care service and broader psychology services.
The successful applicant will become a key member of the Renew team, supporting and deputising for the Consultant Clinical Psychologist when needed. The Renew service is managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and comprises an 8B Senior Psychologist, four 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, ten CAAPs, one Mental Health Practitioner, three PIATSs, and four Assistant Psychologists, providing assessment and treatment to primary care patients with mental health needs.
We seek a qualified psychologist with experience in providing expert guidance, consultation, training, supervision, and leadership in clinical health psychology. The candidate should have substantial experience working with individuals with physical health problems and an interest in quality improvement methodologies to support change. Experience in providing clinical supervision to both trainee and qualified psychologists, as well as other professionals, is essential.

The Scottish Borders region is largely rural, with a population of approximately 115,000, and offers a high quality of life with excellent schools, amenities, leisure facilities, and affordable housing. The area is easily accessible from Edinburgh, with the recent addition of the Tweedbank rail service providing an attractive commute.
