Join us as an Adoption Software Engineer at Barclays

In this role, you will bring to life a new Digital Platform capability by transforming and modernising our digital estate to build a market-leading digital offering with customer experience at its core.

This is an exciting and key role where you will adopt a Product Operating Model mindset, truly listening to customer, business, and technical challenges and needs, supporting the adoption and building of new technology into multiple lines of business. Your main daily activities include working with the lines of business to realize their needs through solutions, rapid prototyping, and proof of concepts using Java, BDD testing concepts, and Public Cloud (AWS).

To be successful, you should have:
  • Experience with Permissions and Profiles, including policy as code to define permission roles, and security models such as ReBAC, ABAC, and RBAC.
  • Experience with Java, BDD testing concepts, and Public Cloud (AWS).
  • An understanding of authorization and authentication technologies like Policy as Code, IAM solutions.
Highly desirable skills include:
  • A willingness to disrupt and challenge norms constructively.
  • Relationship building skills, patience, and resilience to change current practices.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Ping solutions (PingGateway, PingAM, PingIDM, PingDS).

This role may be assessed on key skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.

The position is based in our Glasgow or Knutsford office.

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews and promoting a culture of quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Staying informed of industry trends and contributing to organizational technology communities.
  • Adhering to secure coding practices and implementing effective unit testing.
