Job Description:

Hays Senior Finance is working with an established business near Llandudno that is looking to recruit a qualified Financial Controller. This long-standing company has had a presence in North Wales for many years and continues to grow, leveraging its extensive customer base and reputation in the market. As Financial Controller, you will report to the Finance Director and lead on financial governance, risk management, and compliance, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role is crucial for supporting strategic decision-making, improving financial performance, and maintaining strong controls across the business.

You will manage and mentor a high-performing finance team, overseeing management accounts, audits, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with senior leadership to identify risks, streamline processes, and improve efficiency—playing a key role in shaping the company's financial future.

Key duties will include:

  1. Overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS.
  2. Leading month-end & year-end closing with accurate financial statements.
  3. Implementing financial controls & policies to safeguard company integrity.
  4. Managing audits, liaising with external auditors & ensuring compliance.
  5. Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy.
  6. Developing and overseeing budgeting, forecasting & financial planning.
  7. Ensuring compliance with tax, VAT & regulatory requirements.
  8. Monitoring & mitigating financial risks, protecting company assets.
  9. Maintaining compliance & internal controls as per policies.
  10. Leading, mentoring & developing a high-performing finance team.
  11. Fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability & continuous improvement.
  12. Driving process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.

We are seeking qualified accountants who reside in the local area or within a reasonable distance. The company is a flexible employer, offering two days of remote work per week and a 10% performance-related bonus.
