Job description

We have the opportunity for a Head of Delegated Authority to join our Delegated Authority department at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will ensure that the framework for managing and monitoring delegated underwriting is robust and compliant with regulatory requirements. The role also involves supporting our underwriters in developing initiatives through this distribution channel. You will oversee effective management of delegated authority and bordereaux risks, ensuring coordination within the team and with the rest of the business to support strategic ambitions.

This role includes responsibility for:

1. Providing strategic direction for the Delegated Authority department, contributing analysis and recommendations to business strategy.
2. Guiding underwriting teams in obtaining approvals for new delegated authorities and amendments for new initiatives.
3. Acting as the main liaison with Lloyd’s and regulators for all Delegated Authority queries, ensuring compliance.
4. Establishing and improving the operating framework for the department, including onboarding, due diligence, slip reviews, adjustments, audits, bordereaux management, and data systems.
5. Serving as Business Sponsor for the Coverholder Transformation Programme to implement innovative operating methods.
6. Managing the data processing team at Bridgend and integrating their work with the London DA team.
7. Enhancing systems and governance, including automation tools like DATE.
8. Facilitating effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Supporting team development through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
10. Ensuring external partners and coverholders understand and comply with conduct, risk, and compliance standards.

The ideal candidate will have extensive insurance experience, current Lloyd’s knowledge, and a proven ability to add value to the business. Leadership qualities, management skills, and composure under pressure are essential.
