About Onyx Research Data Tech

The Onyx Research Data Tech organization is GSK’s research data ecosystem, designed to bring together, analyze, and facilitate data exploration at scale. We collaborate with scientists across GSK to understand their challenges and develop tailored solutions, ensuring they have the right data and insights to accelerate medical discovery and stay ahead of disease.

We envision a future where AI and GenAI enable the development of transformative medicines using genetics and functional genomics, impacting diagnosis and treatment to improve lives. To realize this vision, we seek a highly skilled GenAI Platform Engineer II.

Team Focus

Our GenAI Engineering team develops advanced GenAI capabilities, including complex agent architectures, large language model (LLM) training, optimized deployments, and multi-agent applications impacting R&D teams across GSK.

The team values ownership, accountability, continuous development, and collaboration, supporting long-term growth and personal development, with 20% of time allocated for this purpose.

Role Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key engineer for the GenAI platform, providing technical expertise in areas like AIML Platform, DevOps, Compute, and Cloud.
  • Co-design software components and contribute to development, design reviews, and pull request reviews in Python.
  • Manage key components of the GenAI Platform focusing on usability, reproducibility, and performance at scale.
  • Integrate with DataOps and Data Engineering products for optimal ML training performance.
  • Participate in scrum teams, offering technical guidance and innovative strategies to improve end-user environments.
  • Uphold engineering discipline and best practices, including CI/CD processes, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Significant industry experience in software engineering.
Preferred
  • Deep Python expertise, including documentation, testing, and operations.
  • Proficiency with modern development tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), including infrastructure-as-code.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale LLM training and deployment, AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and multi-GPU/TPU training.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, ML pipelines, MLOps tools, Docker, Kubernetes, HPC, and open-source AI tools.
  • Familiarity with agile environments and tools like Jira and Confluence.
