Job description

Senior Assay Scientist - Biotechnology

Newton Colmore has partnered with an exciting start-up in Birmingham seeking a Senior Assay Development Scientist to join their team.

As an Assay Development Scientist reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will be part of the scientific R&D team focused on developing and evaluating rapid in vitro diagnostics tools during development and transfer to manufacturing.

You will work with standard and next-generation technologies, collaborating with science and engineering teams to support assay and device integration activities and generate performance evaluation data. Your responsibilities include experimental planning, system improvement, product development, and providing support and advice to fellow scientists and engineers.

To qualify for this role, you should have:

  • Hands-on experience in the in vitro diagnostics field.
  • Ideally a PhD, but Master's level candidates will also be considered.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as RT and qRT-PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and quantification.
