Job description

Maintenance Technician

Location: Clay Cross

Work Schedule:

• Week 1: Mon-Thu 05:45 / Fri 05:45 / Sat 05:45
• Week 2: Mon-Tues 14:00-00:00 / Weds-Thurs 16:00-02:00 / Fri 13:00-17:00

Salary: GBP 43,364.90

The Role

To install equipment, resolve breakdowns, and carry out preventative maintenance on plant and utility services across the site. Provide technical support to all departments to ensure maximum plant availability across all shifts, in compliance with applicable legislation.

Main Responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical plant and utility service breakdowns effectively.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance actions.
• Ensure equipment availability to meet operational objectives.
• Maintain plant, equipment, and utility services in a safe and efficient condition, complying with legislation.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce breakdowns.
• Liaise with external suppliers and service providers as needed.
• Commit to housekeeping and Health, Safety & Environmental standards across the site.
• Maintain and update procedural documentation for plant and service maintenance.
• Contribute to team development, undergo training, and assist others in relevant fields.
• Support the team and administration tasks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The Candidate

• Time-served apprentice with Electrical/Mechanical qualifications (17th Edition, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, mechanical drive trains, laser, robotics).
• Welding experience.
• Electrical fault-finding skills.
• General machine shop skills: milling, turning, bench work.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical planned maintenance systems.
• Proficient PC user.
• Effective problem-solving skills and proactive approach.
• Awareness of continuous improvement and preventative maintenance methodologies.
