Job description

We have exciting opportunities for registered children's nurses of all levels of experience. You would be joining a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

We want all our young patients and their families to have a positive experience whilst at our Trust and are looking for some very special staff to join our team. Superpowers include the ability to prioritise, resilience, communication, teamwork and independence, time management skills, a willingness to develop, and maintaining high professional standards with a touch of fun.

Please note: Appropriate UK NMC Registration is a requirement for this role. International candidates holding only PRN registration need not apply.

As part of our team, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating personalized health and wellbeing care needs of patients and families, in line with the Trust’s Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework Standards.

Our close links with the Emergency Department, Paediatric Assessment Unit, Children’s Outpatients Department, and Community Paediatric Service facilitate collaborative working. Our ward team is multi-disciplinary, including physiotherapists, pharmacists, play specialists, a patient experience coordinator, and the CAMHS team.

We offer a preceptorship package for newly qualified staff, induction training, and a ward-based educator. The trust also provides a health and wellbeing support package for all staff.

The unit includes a 30-bed inpatient ward, including 4 high dependency beds. We care for specialties such as general paediatric medicine and surgery, ENT, maxillofacial, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, neurology, and shared care oncology.

We are a forward-thinking team with exciting developments planned. We value staff and patient voices and offer opportunities to shape the future of our unit.

Our priority is patient safety and experience, achieved by creating a positive workplace environment for staff.

Our team of 10,000 dedicated staff serves 370,000 local residents and provides specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Joining us means gaining knowledge, pride, and the chance to make a real difference. You will have access to diverse development opportunities, learn new skills, meet great people, and do things you never imagined. Our roles foster interaction across different roles, enhancing your career.

We encourage you to think differently, be bold, and innovate to improve. Everything centers around patient care, making your role pivotal and something to be proud of.
