We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's leading NHS Trusts as a Consultant in Neurology, available on either a substantive or a 12-month NHS Fixed Term basis.

The Trust is one of Europe's largest teaching hospital trusts, serving a diverse population from across the country and the local catchment area of 780,000 residents. With a budget of £1.1 billion and a staff of 20,000, the Trust provides extensive services, including over 1.5 million treatments annually across 2,000 beds and outpatient settings, encompassing 100,000 day cases, 125,000 inpatients, 260,000 A&E visits, and 1,050,000 outpatient appointments. The Trust operates across 7 hospitals on 5 sites, unified by a shared vision to deliver exceptional specialist and integrated care.

The role involves several responsibilities, including:

1. Participating in a 1 in 10 acute “Consultant of the week” rota covering neurology inpatients on ward 17.
2. Assisting with Clinical Governance and Audit duties.
3. Delivering undergraduate medical teaching and contributing to postgraduate training programs.
4. Supervising patients and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
5. Providing outpatient services for Movement Disorders and general neurology, and supporting inpatient neurology services.
6. Developing and managing urgent neurology pathways such as the first fit pathway.
7. Contributing to the development of the regional neuroscience centre, including research, teaching, and new initiatives within the Clinical Services Unit (CSU).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in ongoing clinical research and contribute to innovative developments within the department.

This position is based in Yorkshire, offering a unique blend of rural and urban environments, with excellent leadership, a 10 PA per week workload (flexible), and proximity to two international airports. The area boasts outstanding schools and a high quality of life.
