Job Title: Data Technician

Location: Theale, Reading

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Onsite: 2-3 days hybrid working in the office

Hydro International – Data Insights & Analysis Ltd, a CRH Company, is a leading UK provider of advanced data services. We assist municipal, industrial, and construction clients in improving water management, increasing operational performance, and reducing environmental impact.

With around 40 years of experience, we undertake data collection and analysis for various clients nationwide. We compile, quality assure, and issue detailed reports on water levels, water quality, and discharge, operating and maintaining Hydro-Logic Flexi Logger 105 equipment across approximately 1,400 sites. Our flood water monitoring systems provide critical data to communities affected by heavy rainfall.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Hydrometry and Monitoring team based in Theale. This role involves processing and reporting water data (e.g., flow, depth, quality, rainfall) collected by our field team, along with administrative tasks. There may also be opportunities for fieldwork, visiting sites across England to carry out water measurements and maintain telemetry logging equipment.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel
  • GCSE or equivalent qualification in Geography, Environmental Education, Geology, or Outdoor Education
  • A valid UK driving license
  • Familiarity with data analysis, data quality, and Data Technician tasks, with a focus on managing data quantity (preferred)
  • Experience in data reporting (preferred)
  • Willingness to assist Field Technicians with outdoor tasks occasionally
  • Comfortable working in water and confident in swimming

Experience

  • Full training will be provided; prior experience is not required if you meet the essential skills listed above
  • Experience in processing and reporting hydrometric field data or administrative duties is beneficial but not essential
