Account Payable Clerk

Join our client as an Account Payable Clerk and play a key role in providing excellent finance support within the Finance and Operations directorate, with a specific focus on financial records, processes, and procedures.

Key facts

  • Full time, permanent contract
  • Home-based anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel to meetings in our client’s HQ office in Manchester (If you live outside of Manchester, all travel costs will be reimbursed)
  • Salary: £27,000 p.a.

NB: this is an urgent role and candidates must be immediately available or on a very short notice period

The role

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Communicate with relevant suppliers to process invoicing or payment queries.
  • Process purchase orders, purchase invoices, and sales invoices using the company's accounting system, ensuring the information in the system is accurate.
  • Work with the Head of Finance and Management Accountant to implement and maintain new and current finance systems & procedures (payments, reconciling petty cash and bank statements, reconciliation & maintenance of fixed assets register).
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of financial processes, ensuring control and compliance, whilst enabling the business to succeed.
  • Analyse the aged creditors and add comments for any ongoing issues.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding creditor items.
  • Support the Head of Finance in the provision of financial reports, support for audit, and contract management.
  • Update the supplier’s information within the financial system.
  • Keep up to date with corporate card reconciliation.
  • Ensure financial data is backed up and secure.

The ideal candidate

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSE’s Grade A-C or equivalent including Maths and English (Essential)
  • AAT Level 4 (Desirable)

Experience:

  • Previous work experience in an office-based finance role
  • At least 6 months experience within a Finance department

Skills & Knowledge:

  • IT Skills particularly MS Excel at intermediate level or better
  • NetSuite Oracle Accounting System (Desirable)
  • Able to provide concise, clear information
  • Good communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues and external parties
  • The highest level of integrity
  • Highly efficient, comfortable working under pressure with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Professional and credible in interactions with senior leaders and external stakeholders
