Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary UI/UX Director to lead and oversee all aspects of UI Art, UX Design, and UI Engineering across our AAA projects. You will be responsible for setting the creative and technical direction of user interface experiences, ensuring seamless collaboration between art, design, and engineering disciplines. This leadership role is crucial for defining and executing the future-facing vision of our user interfaces across platforms and genres.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define the long-term vision and strategy for UI/UX across all current and future titles.
  • Champion best-in-class usability, accessibility, and visual clarity for all user interface systems.
  • Work closely with executive leadership, creative directors, and product leads to align UI/UX goals with game and business objectives.

Cross-Disciplinary Oversight

  • Oversee and unify the efforts of the UI Art, UX Design, and UI Engineering teams to ensure consistency and innovation.
  • Provide creative and technical feedback across wireframes, visual mock-ups, interaction flows, and implementation.
  • Ensure design consistency, platform-appropriate behaviour, and a high level of polish across all UI systems.

Team Management & Development

  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a world-class UI/UX team, including artists, designers, and engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing environment that supports growth and innovation.
  • Define processes and pipelines that promote efficiency, scalability, and cross-functional communication.

Technical Direction & Oversight

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and refine UI frameworks, tools, and runtime systems.
  • Ensure the UI codebase is performant, maintainable, and aligned with the studio's technical standards.
  • Evaluate and anticipate future UI technology needs (e.g., motion design systems, data-driven UIs, live-service adaptability).

Quality & Player Focus

  • Ensure the UI/UX experience is intuitive, immersive, and engaging, with an emphasis on player retention and satisfaction.
  • Support and integrate feedback from user research, playtests, and analytics to continuously refine and optimize UI systems.

Requirements

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in UI/UX design or development for games, with at least 3 years in a leadership/directorial role.
  • Shipped at least one AAA title in a UI/UX leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of UI frameworks, rendering pipelines, and front-end programming (e.g., C++, Blueprint, Scaleform, Unity UI, Unreal UMG).
  • Deep knowledge of interaction design principles, accessibility standards, and game platform requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage large cross-functional teams and lead multi-project initiatives.

Preferred

  • Experience with live-service or cross-platform titles.
  • Background in motion design, animation systems, or HUD development.
  • Familiarity with UI tools pipelines (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, After Effects, proprietary layout editors).
