What we do.

We are the UK market leader in the fresh prepared food industry, supplying meals, salads, desserts, pizza, and bread to top grocery retailers including Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury's, and Waitrose. Bakkavor Desserts, based in Devizes, Wiltshire, specializes in chilled desserts like tarts, doughnuts, pies, and pastries. The site employs over 550 people and is part of the UK Bakkavor Desserts sector.

About the role.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisors, you will be part of a team ensuring our site meets all quality and technical standards set nationally and by our retail partners. Your responsibilities include auditing, monitoring, improving quality systems, providing technical support, and maintaining standards aligned with business and customer needs. The role involves working on a permanent day shift, including some weekends as per rota. We welcome applicants from quality, technical, operational, or manufacturing backgrounds with strong attention to detail, process-driven mindset, initiative, and problem-solving skills. Full training on internal quality processes will be provided.

Role Accountabilities:

  1. Audit compliance against Quality Management Systems, GMP, and HACCP controls, documenting non-conformances with objective evidence.
  2. Communicate findings effectively to enable corrective actions and follow-up.
  3. Suggest improvements relating to fabrication and procedures.
  4. Understand and utilize the site traceability system for audits and investigations.
  5. Take samples (micro, nutritional, swab, organoleptic) as per schedule and communicate progress.
  6. Prepare and facilitate taste panels, ensuring accurate recording and communication of results.

  10. Provide technical support during customer visits or audits.
  11. Coordinate daily activities to improve Technical KPIs.
  12. Operate safely and support continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards.
